In a garage with a vacant lot in Montalban, Rizal, one man decided to build something the community never knew it needed — a completely free RC crawler track where anyone could show up, meet new friends, and fall in love with the hobby. That man is Mike, and what he built has grown far beyond anything he originally imagined.
It Started With a Simple Idea
When Mike started building his track in March 2026, the concept was straightforward: give the people of Montalban a free, welcoming space where RC crawler enthusiasts could gather, make friends, and enjoy the hobby side by side. No entry fee. No membership wall. No complicated rules.
He had a garage and a vacant lot — and he made the most of it. What began as a personal project quickly transformed into something that belonged to the whole community.
"I've always believed that earning friends is far more valuable than earning money," Mike shared. "That's why the track has always been free for everyone to use. I consider it a blessing that I had a garage with a vacant lot that I could transform into this track."
A Track That Keeps Growing
From the very first layout in March, Mike has been continuously expanding and improving the course. Every section is designed to push technical skill while remaining accessible — challenging enough for veterans, approachable enough for first-timers. That balance is deliberate and central to everything the track stands for.
No two visits feel exactly the same. New lines, new obstacles, new sections — the track evolves alongside the community that uses it.
The Birth of the Montalban RC Crawlers Club
Shortly after the track opened, Mike co-founded the Montalban RC Crawlers Club together with Alvin and Rick — and the response from the community was immediate and overwhelming.
"When we started the club, we never imagined how many RC enthusiasts lived in our community," Mike said. "During our very first meet-up, we had only around 15 members. Today, our club has grown to nearly 300 members — and it continues to grow."
From 15 to 300 in just a matter of months. That kind of organic growth doesn't happen by accident — it happens when the space is genuinely open, genuinely welcoming, and genuinely free.
More Than a Hobby — A Family Vision
What sets the Montalban RC Crawlers Club apart from a typical RC group is the larger vision behind it. Mike and his co-founders are not just building a club — they are building a hobby that entire families can share.
One of their most important goals is encouraging children to spend less time on gadgets and more time outdoors — learning, playing, and creating lasting memories with their parents and siblings. In a world where screens dominate every idle moment, an outdoor RC track offers something genuinely different: real interaction, real skill-building, and real family time.
That philosophy shows in the atmosphere at the track. Sessions aren't just hobbyists running rigs — they're families spending an afternoon together, kids watching their parents drive, and parents watching their children discover a new passion.
Taking the Hobby to the Malls
The Montalban RC Crawlers Club has also begun bringing the hobby beyond the garage track. As the community continues to grow, the club has started hosting RC crawler events in different shopping malls across the area — giving the hobby a wider stage and introducing new audiences to what RC crawling is all about.
These mall events serve a dual purpose: they showcase the skill and creativity involved in RC crawling to people who have never seen it before, and they give existing members a competitive and social outlet beyond weekend track sessions. Every mall event plants a seed — and some of those seeds grow into the club's next 300 members.
One Hobby, One Community
Mike's RC Crawlers Track Tambayan has become the official gathering place of the Montalban RC Crawlers Club — but it has never been exclusive to members only. Anyone can show up. Anyone can drive. Anyone can belong.
The club's guiding principle says it best:
"One Hobby, One Community. No matter what club we belong to, we all share the same passion. Let us continue to support one another, grow this hobby together, and enjoy every trail with friendship, respect, passion, and dedication."
It's a principle that doesn't just live on a Facebook post — it lives in how the track operates every single day. Free entry. Open gates. No ego, no gatekeeping. Just RC crawlers and the people who love them.
