About ID Verification

What the blue check on RCPinas means — and what it doesn't.

What the badge means

A member with the ID Verified badge has submitted a government-issued ID (passport, driver's license, national ID, postal ID, UMID, PRC, or student ID) plus a selfie that an RCPinas moderator manually reviewed and matched against the ID. We confirm:

  • The submitted ID looks authentic to a human reviewer.
  • The face on the ID matches the selfie.
  • The account belongs to a real person, not a bot or duplicate.

What the badge does not guarantee

The blue check is not a credit reference. We don't audit a member's marketplace history, shop legitimacy, or business practices. ID verification confirms who someone is — not whether a transaction with them will go smoothly.
  • It's not a guarantee against scams. Always verify items before sending money.
  • It's not a Better Business Bureau / DTI accreditation.
  • It's not a substitute for meeting in a public place when buying/selling in person.
  • It does not vouch for the quality of any RC build, shop, or service.

How to get verified

Verification is free and optional. From your profile, click Get verified and follow the steps:

  1. Pick the type of government ID you'll submit.
  2. Upload a clear photo of the front (and back, if applicable).
  3. Take a selfie holding the ID so we can match the face.
  4. Submit. A mod reviews it within 1–2 business days.

How we handle your ID

  • Uploaded IDs are stored encrypted and only accessed by trained reviewers.
  • After review, raw ID photos are purged automatically — only the verification status and the date stay on your record.
  • We do not sell or share verification data with third parties.
  • Full details in our Privacy Policy.

Reporting impersonation

If you suspect a verified account has been compromised or someone else is impersonating you, email safety@rcpinas.com right away. We'll investigate and revoke the badge if warranted.

Group Verification

Active clubs and crews can apply to have their group verified. A verified group gets a badge on its page so members and outsiders know it's a real, active community — not a brand-new shell.

Requirements

  • Picture of the whole group wearing your group's jersey or uniform.
  • At least 20 approved members in the group.
  • Every member has completed ID verification.
  • Every member has at least 3 rigs posted with photos.

Only the group owner can submit the application from the group's page. A moderator typically reviews within 1–3 business days.

Rig Verification

You can apply to verify any rig in your garage. A verified rig gets a badge wherever it appears — your profile, the garage page, and the leaderboard.

Requirements

  • The rig has a cover photo and at least one gallery photo.
  • Recommended (not required): a "proof photo" of the rig with a handwritten note showing your @username and today's date.

A moderator compares the proof photo against your gallery to confirm ownership before approving. If approved, the rig is pinned with a verified badge and ranks higher in feed and search.

A verified rig badge does not constitute a guarantee of mechanical condition, performance, or legal title. It only confirms the photographed rig is owned by the account that posted it.
